Observer instances should have been able to hold enough people for you to get in. Were you entering from the right district?

I'm not sure. I entered from GToB ID1. Seemed like where the majority of people were.

Hmm. Maybe their is a limit to how many can be in the same obs instance. Something to test next MAT.

hi errant!
im kinda happy people are trying to present the gvg mode to people who never came up with playing it. I remember my first time observing a game where some guy commented on, after that i badly wanted to play gvg.
Anyway, can some1 tell me whos commenting on it and whos allowed to talk and who isnt? At least i heared about lemming but what happens if he accidently makes it to finals?

Commentators thus far:
Asp (A well-known top player who has a lot to say in any given situation, expect lots of info pouring from his mic)
Members of GeAr (A gold-trim guild with lots of background) (This could mean a return of Angra and Joe, respectively)
Me (The guy who will be asking them surrogate-audience-like questions, such as what could the losing team done to come back, who the MVP was, etc.)
IRC Informants:
Lemming (Great source for basic GvG topics)
Just want to let everyone know that the matches will be recorded and will possibly be available sometime Saturday night.
As for the listening in, Observers will not disrupt the Commentators, as they will have seperate channels to listen from.
Here's hoping it will be an interesting mAT! Seeing lots of variations of builds out there.

It's not enough to mangle the servers the way any boardwalk weekend would, though.

Why would people obsing GvG matches make HA districts more loaded than usual in the first place?

Just a reminder for everyone: the monthly is today. Commentary will begin in roughly ten hours.
Don't forget to join IRC both before and during commentary - questions will be taken there.

I'd like to say thank you to the people who took the time to organise this, to those who commented and to those that came in for interviews.
A great event all in all, and I do look forward to one next month!
Cheers!

This was really entertaining, thanks a ton to all of the commentators, as well as the people they interviewed afterwards. It's nice to put a voice and personality to some of the people posting on teamquitter. There were a little over 100 people in the channel.
I'm also happy we got some really good finals this time, compared with the previous two tournaments.

Honestly I thought it was quite hilarious listening to Asp call things that happened about 40 seconds ago, but I could see where that would be irritating for people trying to learn the ins and outs. You'd be looking for what in the world Asp was commenting on and it wouldn't be there because it happened 40 seconds earlier.
Overall though it was very entertaining. They didn't choose the matches I would have liked to watch, but I can't complain because they made what would normally be a very boring match entertaining. Plus the end of the finals was pretty hectic.

Are there some people who do 3-2-1 and press on 1? If not told explicitly to "Go on 1", I usually do 3-2-1-GO, because countdowns end on 0. Microwaves, ovens, and sports clocks all buzz and beep at 0 where I come from as well. If you want to be technical, space shuttle launches call liftoff after 1, but maybe the cliche applies that counting is not supposed to be rocket science.
Because that was not a clean spike we had going there. Half of the damage came early, and the Infuse hit before the rest. I was going to be calm about it, but that was the MAT finals. Gold trim was on the line. We brought in a guy from [rawr] who always wins gold capes. We had psychics who could see 1 minute into the future. We even fixed the game to be on the servers we wanted so there would be no problems with ping.
No more rainbow spike in the MAT next time. Rank 10 PvE reputation only group with no noobs. Everyone get on Eles, ping builds, and spike with no half cast items on.
PS: Saw somewhere that observer limits 100 people per chat room. Probably coordinate commentator spike before viewers.
